Rootz Secures German Online Slots License

Based in Malta, Rootz has secured the latest online gambling permit in Germany.

Rootz has obtained a German online slots license, enabling it to provide online slots to players within the nation. The permit was granted by the Saxony-Anhalt State Administrative Office, which oversees online casino regulation and licensing across the country.

The license will encompass the German-facing websites Wildz.de, Wheelzgames.de, and Spinz.de.

The operator joins a group of nine businesses and 12 brands already authorized by the Saxony-Anhalt office. Earlier this month, Solar Operations, operating under its Sonnenspiele.de brand, was also added to the German approved list.

Out of the 15 brands currently permitted to operate in Germany, six have some connection to the Gauselmann Group, while other major companies – Tipwin and Novomatic – are also on the approved list.

The German national online slots market emerged following the Federal Republic’s 2021 Gambling Treaty (GlüNeuRStv). The agreement established terms for a nationwide online regulated market for slots and poker operations, but Germany’s relatively strict regulatory framework has effectively hindered the market’s progress.

Specific rules of concern include the 5…

A three percent levy on equity, a €1,000 monthly deposit cap across all operators, and a €1 wagering limit.
