The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has mandated that internet service providers (ISPs) obstruct access to five extra gambling websites that are operating unlawfully in Australia.
The ACMA asserts that these websites, Grand Rush, Jackpot Jill, Koala Royal, National Casino, and Juicy Stakes, have been operating in contravention of Australia’s Interactive Gambling Act of 2001.
The ACMA scrutinized each site after receiving numerous grievances.
The ACMA reminds consumers that even if a service seems legitimate, it is improbable to possess essential customer safeguards. This signifies that Australians utilizing unlawful gambling services are at risk of financial loss.
The ACMA commenced making blocking requests after obtaining a set of new enforcement authorities in November 2019. To date, 295 gambling websites that are believed to be operating illegally in Australia have been blocked from access.
Since the ACMA began enforcing new regulations on illegal overseas gambling in 2017, over 140 unlicensed services have withdrawn from the Australian marketplace.
