StarCasino Enters Spanish Market with GiG Partnership

Belgian StarCasino, a well-known land-based and online gambling operator, is set to broaden its reach into the Spanish market. This expansion will be powered by a strategic partnership with Gaming Innovation Group (GiG), a leading provider of technology solutions for the gaming industry.

The move marks a significant step for StarCasino, which has recently obtained a license to offer both sports betting and casino games in Spain. The company will leverage GiG’s robust player account management system and its Sportnco sports betting platform to deliver a seamless and engaging experience to Spanish players.

GiG has emphasized its commitment to providing a top-notch, localized, and personalized casino experience, while also prioritizing strong sports betting margins in competitive regulated markets.

Speculation is rife about whether StarCasino’s foray into Spain could be the first in a series of international ventures. Alejandro Casanova, StarCasino’s country manager for Spain, has hinted at the possibility of further expansion.

“We are thrilled to have partnered with the GiG Group,” Casanova stated. “Following years of success in Belgium, we are embarking on a journey to expand our operations to other markets. We have chosen GiG’s technology in Spain to effectively navigate the challenges of this new market.”

Hervé Schlosser, Managing Director of GiG Sportnco Gaming, highlighted the suitability of GiG’s technology for operators seeking to enter new markets.

Im delighted to sign this collaboration agreement with Starcasino to assist them in entering the thrilling Spanish market,” he stated. “I believe our blend of sports betting, platform technology, and regulatory expertise is ideal for aiding established operators like Starcasino in entering new regulated markets.”

The marketing obstacles in Spain are formidable. In October, the Spanish Senate approved a law that will impose even more advertising limitations on top of the already stringent regulations.

Spain implemented a series of advertising restrictions in November 2020. This signifies that commercials can only be displayed on television and radio between 1 am and 5 am, and gambling sponsorships of football teams are prohibited. Existing contracts can continue until the end of the season.

Many of these limitations were part of Spain’s initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic, when the first advertising restrictions were put into effect. These restrictions were subsequently lifted in June, but numerous were reinstated in the November decree.

The new legislation aims to reintroduce more restrictions that were part of the temporary COVID-19 rules. These restrictions include instructing operators not to promote their products as beneficial for social status, physical health, financial stability, or mental well-being.
