Churchill Downs Incorporated Appoints Sam Ulrich as Vice President of Investor Relations

Churchill Downs Incorporated is thrilled to announce the addition of Sam Ulrich to their executive team as the organization’s new Vice President of Investor Relations. Reporting directly to Marcia Dall, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Sam is anticipated to be a tremendous benefit to the group.

Sam joins Churchill Downs with a vast amount of knowledge, having dedicated the past 15 years in fiscal leadership positions for publicly listed corporations. His most recent position was Managing Director of Business and Financial Strategy at KFC, a division of Yum! Brands. Before this, Sam held numerous finance and accounting roles at both KFC and Yum!, ultimately leading to his role as Interim Chief Financial Officer for KFC US in October 2022. In this capacity, he was tasked with supervising all financial aspects of the nearly $5 billion company with close to 4,000 eateries across the country. Sam’s career commenced as an auditor with PwC in Louisville, Kentucky.

Sam is a distinguished alumnus of the University of Kentucky, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance and Business Administration. Furthermore, he is a certified public accountant within the state of Kentucky.

This appointment coincides with a period of significant growth for Churchill Downs Incorporated. The company recently commemorated the grand unveiling of its latest entertainment venue, Terre Haute Casino Resort in Indiana. The $290 million project features a 400,000-square-foot casino complete with 1,000 slot machines, 36 table games, a sports wagering area, and an opulent 122-room hotel.

This undertaking significantly stimulated the regional financial landscape – generating 1,000 employment opportunities in construction and currently offering nearly 550 combined full-time and part-time roles. Furthermore, CDI secured a substantial collaboration with Sports Illustrated previously this year, encompassing sole entitlement to a fresh dining concept at the Kentucky Derby.
