WynnBet and Betr Bow Out of Massachusetts Sports Betting Market

WynnBet and Betr are ending their Massachusetts sports wagering ventures. This choice coincides with WynnBet’s plans to scale back its sports betting endeavors across seven other states.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) revealed that both WynnBet and Betr will be discontinuing their services within the state. Betr actually halted its operations on February 16th, a decision subsequently ratified by the MGC during a February 21st assembly. Betr patrons have until March 16th to retrieve funds from their accounts. Subsequently, any remaining Massachusetts clients will receive checks by mail for their balances.

Conversely, WynnBet declared its Massachusetts withdrawal in mid-February, and the MGC has verified that the company is in the process of concluding its operations in the state. Users will retain access to their wagering records until March 12th. Following that date, WynnBet will directly communicate with any patrons who have unresolved wagers requiring settlement.

Speculation regarding WynnBet’s reduction initially emerged last August when the company disclosed its intention to cease operations in multiple states. At that juncture, WynnBet asserted that its Massachusetts and Nevada operations would remain unaffected, while New York and Michigan were under evaluation. Nevertheless, it appears strategies have shifted, with WynnBet attributing its decision to discontinue its mobile sports betting activities in Massachusetts to “strategic considerations.”

However, listen, our collaborators are continuing to manage their athletic wagering operation at Encore Boston Harbor, you see, with the entire setup – retail locations and those automated betting stations.”

“On that note, recall Wynn Resorts? We just acquired their Michigan digital wagering business like seven days ago.”
