Catena Media Acquires PokerScout.com to Capitalize on US Online Gaming Expansion

A European iGaming firm, Catena Media, has purchased PokerScout.com, a platform monitoring internet poker activity, for $350,000. This strategic move follows the recent legislation in Pennsylvania permitting online wagering, a sector Catena is keen to penetrate.

Catena views PokerScout, which monitors the volume of participants at virtual poker tables, as a crucial resource for comprehending and navigating this newly regulated landscape. They are already managing multiple media properties in Pennsylvania and possess domains targeting other US regions, including New Jersey.

Pennsylvania recently became the fourth state in the US to authorize internet gambling, joining Nevada, Delaware, and New Jersey. This action is particularly noteworthy as it enables both private casinos and the state lottery to engage in the digital market.

Catena Media’s Chief Executive Officer, Henrik Persson Ekdahl, conveyed his excitement about the acquisition, noting that the timing is ideal with Pennsylvania’s online gaming market poised to commence. He also shared his aspiration for other states to emulate Pennsylvania’s decision in legalizing internet gambling.

Weve been preparing for this, and it seems like we’re pioneering within the American marketplace.
